How to find the area of a rectangle

               
I  know how to find the area of a rectangle. It is multiplying the length with the width. 

A = l x w

I have learnt to find the area of two shapes that are together. I find the area of one rectangle then I do the same to the other rectangle. Then I add the 2 areas together for the total area.
Area 1 + Area 2 =72 sq m + 24 sq m = 96 sq m TOTAL.
